Word Wednesday: Lush ‘Buffy’ Body Butter

DSC_0015
Feels like forever since I’ve done a ‘Word Wednesday’ post but I’m here now doing one so better late than never, right? Today’s post is a product review and rant (let’s be honest) about my latest bath and body purchase. Lush Cosmetic’s Buffy Body Butter Bar. I can’t stop raving about it so thought I’d share it with all my readers!

If you’re a little unfamiliar with Lush Cosmetics, here’s my short and sweet rundown of the company. The company practices ethical buying and finds out all they need to know before buying any ingredients used in their products. They are also super environmental-conscious and fight hard against animal testing. All these attributes and more, I hold as being really important. Isn’t it good to know what you’re putting on your body is safe and helping the environment rather than the opposite?

The Buffy Body Butter by Lush is really more or less a body scrub that makes your skin a whole lot softer and smoother. I decided to give this body butter a try after meeting the Director of Brand Communications of Lush Cosmetics, Brandi Halls. She said it was one of her all time favorite products to use so after hearing that, I had to test it out for myself.

I really recommend this product if your skin is in need of a little rejuvenation. Especially for the summertime when we want our skin on it’s best behavior, the body butter acts as a great exfoliant and leaves my skin silky smooth. You can purchase the body butter in two sizes and for a few extra bucks, it comes in this cute little Lush tin as seen above.

Probably one of my favorite things about the bar is that you can use it with any shower gel or soap of your liking. There is a slight fragrance to the bar but not overpowering so if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing (like I am), you don’t have anything to worry about when it comes to this Lush product.

If you want to try the Buffy Body Butter out, you can purchase Buffy online.

Word Wednesday: Adam Levine`s Womenswear Collection

ImageBack-to-back posts. Who woulda thought? I’m making sure today is beyond productive so I got up real early just so I could get all the things on my ‘to do list’ done. I am that girl who keeps to do lists, yep.

In some serious Cheap Chic news – Maroon 5 crooner, Adam Levine has released a line of womenswear at Kmart! Yes, ladies. You’re not dreaming. Check out some of my favorite pieces from the upcoming collection.

ImageImageImageThe style of the womenswear line is all about that music festival, Cali summer vibe in my eyes. And I kinda dig it. It’s basically the closest I’ll ever get to Adam Levine himself so I’ll take it.

If you wanna see more photos, check out Fashionista’s post, here. What are your thoughts on the line? Share in the comments!

Word Wednesday: My 5 Must-Read Blogs

blogging

Happy hump day! It’s the start of April and that is a breath of fresh air. I have a lot of good and exciting things to look forward to this coming month and am excited to continue making my blog the best it can be.

Since it’s been a while since I’ve done a ‘Word Wednesday’, I thought it was only fitting that I get back on track. If you love to read as much as I do, then I think you’ll appreciate this post. My vent of the day consists of sharing with all of you my 5 must-read blogs!

1. A Pair and a Spare

This blog is by far my number one must-read.  Blogger Geneva Vanderzeil is a serious triple threat. What was once a smaller, blogspot domain blog, Vanderzeil’s blog has transformed to epic proportions. I could rave on and on about this blog but I’ll keep it short. From her ah-mazing ‘DIYs’ to her gorgeous Instagram photos, A Pair and a Spare has it all.

2. The Everygirl

The Everygirl is just that – it is for the everyday girl! While some may see this more as a ‘website’ than a blog, it has a lot of personal details and covers a range of topics.

3. Oh, for the Love of Fashion

I’ve only recently come across this blog since starting The Cheap Chic Monologues but I am so glad I did! Chandler’s fashion is one I can relate to – fun & trendy. With similar taste in style, I love seeing what outfits she puts together!

4. Curated Taste

Curated Taste is essentially one of my favorites not just because it is based within my city of Vancouver but also because of its variety. I absolutely love her ‘Thrift Store Score’ posts – it was sort of the inspiration behind my Friday Finds posts!

5. BEAUTY x LIT

For the makeup lovers out there – be sure to check out BEAUTY x LIT. Another recently found blog, I have become an avid reader of their posts. So many product reviews but so little time!

So, what blogs do you read on the daily? I’d love to add to my list so post in the comment section!

Word Wednesday: Fave Fashion Quotes

It’s mid-week, everyone! I can hear the sighs of relief already.

If you didn’t know already, I am definitely a word girl. I love reading, writing and jaw dropping, unforgettable speeches and quotes. Yes, there are some cheesy sayings out there but I can be a sucker for ’em. Today, I’m bridging my obsession for infamous quotes with fashion and paying ode to some of my all-time favorite fashion quotations.

Thanks again for all the follows and support!

Word Wednesday: Fashion Fears

Hey everyone!

Already the middle of the week and it feels so good.

Word Wednesday can be so many things but this week I’m ranting about fashion fears. I’m talking about those trends and fashion styling techniques that you may be just a tad hesitant to try. Now, obviously not every trend out there is meant for you but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t at least experiment because like I say in my ‘about me’ page – one’s style is ever-changing so what trend may have not worked for you three years ago, might just be the perfect fit nowadays.

Fashion Fear #1: Colour

I think at one time or another, we all have shared this fear – color. Yes yes, black is slimming as hell and works for every complexion and skin color in the book but the matter of fact is that over time, if black is all you’re dressing in – overtime, it can become drab! I love black and all the shades of grey in between but color can really make you stand out. Start slow by maybe adding a bold handbag to your LBD like this one from Asos and slowly but surely your wardrobe will be bold and beautiful (not that it already isn’t!)

Fashion Fear #2: Seeing Stripes

I’ll be honest – I was scared of stripes for a long time. I always had this preconceived notion that no matter what the style of stripe, shade or direction, they are unflattering. This is a total myth, ladies! It’s all about the size of stripe, direction and color. For example, thin vertical stripes on a skirt or a pair of striped skinny jeans can do some serious justice for your legs while thick horizontal stripes on a dress may make you look wider.

Fashion Fear #3: Mixing Prints

Have no fear ladies, mixing prints is easier than you think! Even the thought of mixing two completely different patterns used to make me so anxious but it wasn’t until I started experimenting with my own closet that I found it is a lot of fun! The key I have found in successfully mixing prints is balance. So say if you’re wanting to rock a skirt with a big floral pattern, pair it with a lesser bold top that has small stripes or polka-dots. It’s all about balancing the two so they compliment each other. Thank me later!

I’d love to know your own fashion fears that you’ve gotten past or have yet to conquer so feel free to leave a comment below!

Word Wednesday: 5 Amazing Online Shopping Sites

onlineshopHappy Hump Day!

It’s my first WORD WEDNESDAY! What I plan on doing every Wednesday is to share my thoughts, lists, or anything else that would fall into the category of being ‘wordy’!

I am a BIG shopper in general but now with this wonderful thing called the ‘internet’, my shopping addiction has only gotten worse (for my wallet). This week’s Word Wednesday is a quick post on my top 5 online shopping websites.

  1. ASOS.COM
Probably not a surprise to anyone if you already shop online. If you don’t, make sure you add this one to your favorites. Asos.com has it all, I swear. Free worldwide shipping too!
  2. ROMWE.COM
I’ve ordered from ROMWE several times and while I have had to pay duty on some of my purchases, they do have free worldwide shipping as well.
  3. TOBI.COM
Tobi.com is by far one of my favorite sites, hence why it made the cut! They newly announced FREE worldwide shipping while before there was a small fee. Their dresses are nothing short of amazing.
  4. MISSGUIDEDUS.COM
I have yet to purchase something from Missguidedus.com but that is probably because it wasn’t until recently did I find out about the site. Again, free shipping! A girl has got to love that.
  5. SHEINSIDE.COM
This site is very similar to ROMWE both in terms of layout as well as products. However, Sheinside.com often has crazy deals which to a girl on a budget, is music to the ears!

Share in the comments some of your favorite online shopping websites!

Kels
